In this article, I will talk about my most recent find in the world of adult platforms.
Fansly is something I came across a few months ago while searching for OnlyFans alternatives to join.
If you’ve read some of my previous articles, you would know that I am currently focusing on finding alternatives for OnlyFans and ManyVids, since these two platforms have grown to the point where smaller creators have little to no chance of achieving any significant success on them.
Fansly was super small back then; however, since my focus recently has been to find these smaller platforms that have the potential to grow, I thought going back to it and seeing how it’s been doing was a good idea.
And to not waste your time any further, in this article, I will show you how to make money on Fansly, what you need to know about the platform, how everything works, and more.
Table of Contents
What is Fansly?
Fansly is an American-owned website operated by Select Media LLC, with its registered address in Baltimore, Maryland.
It is a social media website and application service that allows adult creators to upload photos and videos to their profiles. As a Creator on Fansly, you are free to set a monthly subscription price and earn money from your paying subscribers.
Fansly is an international platform; however, as of the time of this writing (November 2021), they have a few restricted countries that sadly can’t sign up to the platform as Creators.
The following countries cannot use the site as a creator: Balkans, Belarus, Burma, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and Zimbabwe.
Fansly promises to improve on this in the future as they add more payment processors and payment methods.
How to Start a Fansly Account as a Creator?
Starting a seller’s or a “Creator” account on Fansly is an incredibly brief and uncomplicated process. Here is the two-step guidance on how to do it:
Create an account
First, you need to sign up and come up with your username and password. It doesn’t matter if you write a funny username initially; you will be able to change it at any given time.
Then, Fansly will send you an email to verify your email address. This entire process lasts no longer than a minute.
Verify your account
Once you’re in, you want to verify your account by clicking your profile icon on the top right corner and choosing “Become a Creator” and then Application.
Here, you need to fill up a long-ish form and attach a front photo of your ID plus a safe-for-work selfie of you holding the same ID. Make sure to read the rules, which are clearly outlined next to the example of how your application should look, as this will speed up the verification process.
Your account should be verified in a short time, and you can begin updating your profile, setting payment methods, and uploading content.
What Kind of Content is Allowed on Fansly?
Fansly is a bit of a “stricter” platform compared to some other, more relaxed platforms like PocketStars.
I couldn’t find a clear “prohibited content list” in their Terms and Conditions of use; however, from what I understand, they don’t accept stuff like consensual non-consent, fake blood, and other stuff which are illegal in most countries in the world, such as portraying minors, animals, etc.
Other than that, they allow BDSM content as they consider it a broad term that covers a lot, so as long as what you’re uploading is legal, you will be good to go.
Here is a post where a member of the Fansly support team answers questions on what kind of content is and isn’t allowed.

How Does Fansly Subscription Work?
Fansly is very similar to OnlyFans and works in the way that you charge people for access to your content.
You can charge a subscription fee that lets people see your photos and videos, or they can pay to direct message you. You can also receive tips if someone just wants to randomly give you a little extra cash.
The one thing worth pointing out here is that Fansly lets you have different subscription tiers. So, you can charge a lower fee for access to some of your private content but charge a higher tier for extra content, such as longer videos.
It’s a good feature to have, but it does mean more work and better organization skills. A lot of models just prefer to have a single tier, as it’s easier to manage.
Fansly also has a free feature that allows users to follow your account without paying a subscription – and you can post content that’s free for them to view.
This is the ideal way to tease people and show them a hint of what they could be getting if they subscribed.
Emojis tie into this, too – you can easily add custom emojis to photos that cover up certain parts of the image for free followers.
As soon as they subscribe, they can access the unedited version to see everything. It’s fun and a fantastic way to promote yourself, so I highly encourage you not to shy away from posting freebies every now and again.

Fansly Payouts
Here’s how Fansly payouts work:
Does Fansly cost money to join?
No, joining for Fansly is free; however, the platform keeps a percentage of your earnings.
As a Creator selling content and subscriptions, you will receive 80% of every transaction while Fansly keeps 20% for hosting your profile.
What is the minimum withdrawal amount?
The minimum withdrawal amount on Fansly is currently set to only $20.
How frequent are payouts?
Once you are verified, you can payout (above $20) as often as you want. The payouts are typically sent in 3 business days by bank transfer.
Fansly payment methods
Fansly currently offers the following payment methods:
- Bank Transfer (ACH/SEPA)
- Skrill
- Paxum
Fansly affiliate program
Fansly has a unique referral URL that allows you to earn income from any other user who signs up via your referral link.
The user only needs to register using the browser they used to click the referral link. You being the referrer, will then get 5% of all total income.
5 Benefits of Using Fansly
Here are several highlighted advantages of using Fansly to sell your adult content:
New platform = higher growth opportunity
Fansly is a relatively new platform, which means you will have a higher opportunity to grow than you would on other platforms such as OnlyFans and ManyVids, as these are not only oversaturated but also feature professional pornstars, models, influencers, etc.
If you are an inexperienced beginner, you should be a little more realistic and opt for a smaller platform where you can leave your footprint.
Fansly will most definitely grow with time, of that I have no doubt. The platform is an absolute breath of fresh air to navigate through, so it would be a great time for you to start.

You can schedule posts
Let’s say you are super busy with other jobs, chores, and whatnots, and the only time for you to work on your content is a day or two in the week.
Well, you can easily use the calendar icon at the bottom of an unsent post to schedule your posts and make it look like you are constantly active.
This way, you will save time and be able to focus on other things while still producing regular content for your followers and earning money even when you aren’t active.

You are your own boss
You are in charge of everything. You have the ability to set your own subscription rates and price your items as you please without any interference from Fansly.
So, from the type of content you produce to setting your subscription rates, everything is entirely up to you.
Covered chargebacks
Let’s say that someone subs to you, receives your content, then decides to initiate a chargeback; Fansly will cover that.
However, a situation that they wouldn’t cover, for example, would be if a creator promised the content to a fan, the fan paid for it, then the content was never delivered.
DMCA takedown policy
Piracy is everywhere on the Internet, and it is a general nuisance every one of us has dealt with at some point.
However, Fansly has a DMCA takedown policy that allows you to report any use of your content that wasn’t authorized by you as the copyright owner, your agent, or the law.
But besides that, I just want to mention again that you should consider watermarking your content. It’s an easy 1-minute process that you can do in Canva to save you the headache in the future.
